Excellent, it has been fantastic to watch your video extremely informative easy to follow and it has allowed me as a layperson to understand how the job can be done.
Little warning to those who don't feel like repeatedly going through the effort of repeatedly disassembling the car every month or two. My red triangle code was for one under-performing module, but upon testing everything 2 more modules were also on deaths door and a number of other underperforming ones. So this is a quick and dirty "low tech" method, if time isn't an issue but you might end up having to repeat it a bunch of times.
Ah, a good point at 12:50. Compress the battery so the holes on the bottom line up. Excellent video. Thank you. (edit, 3:20) Did you know that the compression plate is on facing the wrong way? The bottom tension bolts can't tighten that way unless you modify the plastic tabs coming off of the bottom of the plate. Att to viewers.
Interesting video (was expecting that) But i couldn't stop thinking: Touching a charged HV battery (even with disconnected elements) like a maniac, without gloves, by a water puddle. What can go wrong ? Remembered my younger days when i was adjusting HV and Focus on powered-on CRT monitors (just a 15 kV voltage for the the tube grid - you quickly learn to not be so touchy touchy with live hardware) :D
You sir are misleading people and showing the absolutely wrong was of doing this. This is if your selling the car and wanna screw your seller in about 3-6 months because that's when those cells will go out again. Everyone don't do this!! The proper was is it takes about a week of draining and charging the batteries and putting a load on it and seeing how how it'll hold a charge. There's a lot more to this then just changing the cell. Just because it shows a lower voltage does not mean that it's a bad cell. A bad cell can show perfect voltage and once you'll add a small load it'll deplete all the way. Kinda how your old phone battery dies quickly. You have to use a $25k system and connect the batteries to the computer and it refurbishes them over a weeks period. Please stop spreading fake information. We have people where I live here and me personally did this and payed 3k to replace them and then got triangle of death 5 months later. Then I found out it was done improperly.
Correct. Going to also be warning potential hybrid buyers about this and to run OBD testing on the battery before a purchase. Would be willing to place a bet that people are replacing a module to clear the code and then is claiming that its all good to a seller.
Obviously they were tested. Diagnosing the cells in an operating vehicle is faster and more effective than testing them individually. Of course I had to much confidence in someone else's work but this video should really be redone with accurate helpful info.
Only defective modules can be found via the voltage. With a capacity measurement, weak modules can also be found. These weak modules are among the first to be broken the next time. I found a 7.4 volt module with only 1800 mAh. Normally old modules (year 2007) have approx. 5500 to 6500 mAh. Here you find the way to check the capacity of your cells: ua-cam.com/video/g5KAPge-f6E/v-deo.html
What make and model are the individual cells? I have a 2010 Lexus RX450h which I believe uses a Panasonic Battery, do they use the same calls? and where can they be ordered from?
Do you know if it is possible to create an additional battery to increase the size of the battery and almost turn the Toyota Prius into an almost electric vehicle?
Not cell. Module. 6 cells in each module. 2 modules are paired to make a block.
Great video

fake
Md muslim uddin Bangladesh Dhaka good vi
Good job. I would change them all since they are at end of useful life....do not want to keep changing a one cell at time
Gen 2 cell 1 is farthest from ecu and cell 28 is closest to ecm You said it was the opposite which is wrong.
No thanks, I'll keep my gas vehicle

Isn’t it a bad idea to mix new cells with old cells?
Nice job!
👍👍👍
No gloves. Clean, dust, and dirt free working area. LOL

Thank you very much for your good video !
I'm glad your not standing directly in that puddle of water with your EH rated Flipflops your a safe 2 ft away.

In the future, we will be looking at this battery pack technology and laughing about how overcomplicated and inefficient it is.
Mine is 2013 how much is each cell
You're counting the modules backwards. Thanks for helping me waste a few hours of work.
Yeah, well if you would have actually tested the cells ...

Batteries near puddles of water don't mix. 🙈. Good job testing them.
Да ну нафиг!
Thanks.
So i don't have to change the whole battery just the bad cell?
Yes , just replace the bad cell and even better move the inner cells to the outside and rotate the outer to the inside.

Thank You Sir🙏
My question is will these 17 cells may have got damage?
I have read the voltage,i found 7.61 there are 3cells,7.60are4cells,7.59 are4cells and7.58 are17cells
That indicates that all the cells hold a charge. So look for corrosion or breaks on the interconnecting conductors to be the problem.
Thanks for the walk thru
where to buy these cells?
Thanks for a really great explanation.

Supposed to count right to left not left to right

Is it still holding up okay, I guess you didn't balance it but maybe that's all right
Do you know if it is possible to create an additional battery to increase the size of the battery and almost turn the Toyota Prius into an almost electric vehicle?
Very helpful
Thanks.... Great video, showing the steps.

May God bless you
What should be the lowest voltage each cell should read to determine if they are good?
You really don’t need to explain how it works just show us how to do it
Great Video. Thank you
Great video & camera work tks
very professional, good job.
Thank you
WHERE do you get the batt cells $????
Ebay
Thank you , you gave me hopes that I can fix it when it brakes! Where do you buy the batt cells????
Ebay or Amazon
